George II

George II

1727-1760 England

George II furniture produced some extraordinary, beautifully proportioned furniture. Cabriole legs and filigree curves for example developed to a true art form during this time. Gilding and carving evolved further and in the latter part of this period the asymmetrical explorations of the Rococo emerged.

Under George I, George II and George III, in England, were defined the distinguishing characteristics of the now called Georgian style of furniture.
