Originating in 14th century Scotland, the House of Stuart was a powerful European dynasty. Furniture from this era reflects numerous influences but tends to be identified with the “Age of Oak.” In addition to the use of oak, other local timbers such as elm, walnut and fruitwoods were also prevalent.
